Are We Unlucky?

After hearing about our Hawaii disaster the other day, my adorable niece Andi commented that we seem to have terrible luck on vacations. Really? As I stood there thinking that was an odd thing to say, I began to mentally shuffle through the card stacks and... OH MY GOSH! She is totally right!

Yikes!

Helpful Tips For Being A Successful Human

You may laugh at the title of this post, but take a minute to think about the people you have met in your lifetime that are NOT successful humans. I know you have encountered at least one. Those type of people never learned the fine art of giving service, sacrificing for others, and never ever stomping on someone else's happy feet.  Sound impossible?  I will admit that it is something that we must work toward, every single day... but I promise you the journey is worth it.  Every. Single. Minute.

Here are some things I have learned along the way that I truly believe help me be more successful at being a good human.

The Sweetest Husband Ever

My sweetheart just brought me breakfast in bed. (And before you start to wonder...no, breakfast does not include the gecko in the picture. I just happen to think this picture shows off his sweet face and puppy dog eyes!) However, I'm not quite "in bed" ...I am actually awake, sitting on the edge of my bed, contemplating the icky work day ahead of me and in addition to that dread I'm sick with a hacking cough and sore throat. So I guess it would be more accurate to say he brought me breakfast ON bed.   Either way, he's so adorable on mornings like this that I can forgive him his frequent butt-head moments.

Letting Go And Holding On

Today was one of those days that I drove to work in complete silence. No X96 Radio From Hell, no iPod or Glee soundtrack.  Silence.  I guess I had a lot on my mind that I needed to process. If you have never tried being alone with your thoughts during your daily commute, I encourage you to try it. I find it a good time to do some general noggin housecleaning. I dust off the thoughts, clear out the cobwebs and even do some rearranging. (Occasionally I find things rolling around in my head that I had completely forgotten about, or never realized to begin with, and I have one of those How the HELL did that get in there? moments, but alas, not today.)

Our Series Of Unfortunate Events

I have decided that this will be the only blog post about our Hawaii vacation. The trip that we waited so long for was filled with misery, tragedy, pain and unfortunate events. Every day we woke up thinking that we could make that day better than the one before it... not so much luck there.

We came home to find that my 8G memory card was missing, likely left at the hotel. It seems as if karma has already taken care of deleting the photo evidence of this calamity vacation. Now if only there was a delete button for the memories in my head then the wipe would be complete.

*sigh*  I will not be returning to The Big Island of Hawaii any time soon. Hopefully never.

A Hui Hou Kakou!

This is it!  The day we have long waited for!  In 90 minutes from now, the girls will be rubbing their sleepy eyes and proclaiming how tired they are as we leave for the airport. At the end of our long day which includes 4 hours at LAX, we will arrive in Kona, undoubtedly bleary eyed but excited nonetheless!

Wish us pomaika ' i,  Readers.. if indeed you are out there.  :) We will be back far too soon but will have stories and pictures to share!

Mahalo!

Birthdays BBQs and Hawaii - Oh MY!

We have been living a car insurance slogan over the last week and there simply has not been time to sit down and properly document everything. But no matter how busy life gets, one thing is constant and true -  I adore my family! My husband and girls are the best gift anyone could ever wish for and even though we have our ups and downs, as everyone does, we are livin' the good life right here, right now!

Here are just a few of the highlights from our busy, busy week!

Life Comes At You Fast!

  • Ashley flew in from Georgia. Yay!
  • Finally made the decision to spend my inheritance from Grandpa Robinson on a new lens for my camera. I think he would be pleased that we are constantly documenting our journey on this trip we call life.
  • Memorial Day cemetery road trip on my 39th birthday- I loaded all 6 of the kiddos in the Durango and we drove to Brigham City, Logan and Smithfield to place flowers on the graves of our departed loved ones.
  • A mere 6 hours later we rushed home to hold a celebratory birthday bbq at our house. Tons of fun and the food was excellent! Can I just say that I LOVE hanging out on our beautiful deck and sharing lots of laughter with family and friends?
  • Monday morning - more cemetery trips. This time we went to the cemetery where Grandma and Grandpa Robinson were laid to rest. That one still hurts and probably always will. I miss them every day! The flowers were beyond beautiful though, and although the concession stands at the cemetery were a little odd, the bagpipes were a very nice touch.
  • Girls were sick so we had to cut the cemetery trip short. :( We came home and chilled out, which means no one really remembers what we did. haha!
  • Back to school for the girls and I on Tuesday.. bleh. We just had to get through the week!
  • Tuesday was also Bill's birthday! We grilled (again) and then played Mario Kart. Good times!                                           Happy4-Oh sweetheart!
  • SYTYCD!! Oh Yeah! Bring it on! We love to watch this dance series in the summer. That is good quality family time right there.
  • More sniffles, coughs, aches and ickness. :(
  • Have we spent enough time on our deck yet? No? How about the first brick oven pizza night of the year then? Shaweet!
  • What? You want to have "Mexican Food Night" at our house tomorrow? Sounds like a good time! Margaritas anyone?
  • Telestrations! If you have not played this game, we highly recommend it! Where else will you have to be able to draw and understand things such as: Whale Fly, Giant Flying Squid, Stink Death, Wheelchair Factory, Fish Murderer AND Led Zepplin? Seriously, we laughed until we were sick!
  • Mario and more Mario. Summer fun is here and we are enjoying it!
  • HAWAII IN FIVE DAYS!! It is going to be a tough week to endure, but by this time next week we will be chillaxin on The Big Island! I am certain that the pics and stories will make for some great blogging, so stay tuned!
Babehs "My daughters are so many things- Tiny discoverers of butterfly wings, huggers of teddies, sweet sleepyheads, little ones to dream for in bright years ahead... All Special people who right from the start had a place in our family and of course in my heart. And just when I think that I've learned all the things that my dear daughters are and the joy each one brings, a hug or a grin comes with such sweet surprise that love finds me smiling with tears in my eyes!"
